ASSEMBLYMAN FINCH VOTES FOR PASSAGE OF NYRA EXTENSION


     Passage of bill will prevent the closing of Tioga Downs

     Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C - Springport) today voted to pass the New York Racing Association (NYRA's) franchise extension.  The bill passed the Assembly 89-40.

     With continued negotiation troubles, the future of racing in New York had been in doubt.  However, with this passage, Tioga Downs will be able to continue operation.  The closing of Tioga Downs would have created a loss of at least 300 jobs and would have resulted in an increase in local property taxes due to a decrease in revenues.
